I got a small surprise from my Appa last time when we went to India. He gave me a small present, two cookery books. It was a very pleasant surprise, especially since it was from my Appa. Appa is a kind of person who doesn’t believe in giving as well as receiving any gifts. Though its a small present, I treasure it very much, since things like this happen only once in a bluemoon :). Ok, now coming to the two books, one is a kutti book which has only soft drink recipes. Those are very simple recipes, which can be made easily with standard ingredients which can be found in any kitchen. Other book has a variety of Kerala recipes.

Today I tried one of the soft drink recipes in the kutti book, Pineapple Smoothie and here is the recipe.

  1. Fresh or tinned pineapple with its juice - 570 gm
  2. Fresh nutmeg/cinnamon gratings - 1/2 teaspoon
  3. Honey - 2 tbsp
  4. Chilled milk - 1/2 cup
    Chilled yogurt - 1 cup
  5. Extra honey & nutmeg/cinnamon - to drizzle

Chop the pineapple into small pieces. Process pineapple with its juice, cinnamon, honey an milk in a blender until the mixture becomes smooth.Add yogurt and process for 5-10 seconds. Pour into serving glasses. Drizzle honey and sprinkle cinnamon over the smoothie. Serve immediately.

Note: Though the original recipe calls for 2 tbsp of honey, you can reduce it to 1 or even 1/2 tbsp.
