    Fish Tomato Masala

If you are the kind of person who likes flavor in your food, this is for you. Its a very simple dish, but its packed with flavor. The ingredients are very basic stuff, but somehow the outcome is extraordinary :)

Hope you will also like this flavor filled dish :)

    1. King fish – 1/2 kg
      For Marination
    2. Chili powder – 1 tsp
      Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
      Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
    3. Salt
      For Masala
    4. Onion – 2 medium, chopped
    5. Tomato – 2 chopped
    6. Green chili – 3
    7. Ginger – 1 1/2 tbsp, chopped
      Garlic – 1 1/2 tbsp, chopped
    8. Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
    9. Kashmiri chili powder – 1 1 /2 tbsp
      Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
      Garam masala – 1 tsp
    10. Water – 2 cups
    11. Coconut oil – 4-5 tbsp
      Curry leaves
      Salt

Marinate the cleaned fish pieces with number 2 ingredients (marination ingredients) and keep aside for half an hour. Heat 4 tbsp oil in a pan and fry the marinated fish pieces. Add chopped onion, ginger & garlic, curry leaves and green chili to the remaining oil and saute till it is done. Add all masala powders and stir for a minute. Once the masala powders are fried well, add tomato pieces and saute till the oil starts appearing. Add 2 cups of water & salt. Let it boil. Once it starts boiling add fried fish pieces and cook in low flame for about 7 – 10 minutes or until the fish pieces are covered in the gravy. Serve hot with rice.

      • http://www.mariasmenu.com Maria

        Hi Jameela

I’ve heard about meen mulakittathu, but never knew its recipe…btw, thanks for trying this. Happy to hear that you liked it :)

Regarding the color, there is no camera trick :) I think this is more of reddish colour and may be the light gives it a yellowish tint.

Presently I dont have any plans to publish a book. Am just doing this as a hobby :)

        Cheers
