  1. Hi Maria,
Recently stumbled upon your blog and am amazed by the number and variety of dishes on offer! Planning to cook prawns tonight and thought i’ll try this recipe. Only problem is I don’t have coconut. Can I omit them from the recipe? Have everything else! Thanks in advance!

    • Hi Chandni,

Thank you so much :) I’m sorry for the delayed reply. I was away on a short trip.

You can omit the coconut part, but try it with coconut later when you can find some.

Hope you get to try this dish and like it too..

      Cheers
      Maria

  4. Maria,
We r about to cook this dish… However, one prob.. no shallots(small onion) and  coconut pieces.. !! Is it okay 2 use onion instead of shallots…? Can v use smethng else for coc0nut pieces…?? Waiting 4 ur reply.. meanwhile i’l clean shrimp…!!

    • Hi Sany,

I’m sorry to disappoint you dear, but this curry gets it flavour from shallots. So I dont think onions will do justice to this curry :(

Please check out the other prawns recipe to see if you find anything interesting.

      Cheers
      Maria

  6. Hi Maria, I’m a newly wed and just started cooking… I usually stick to sanjeev kapoor recipes coz you can be sure they will never go too wrong… I hit upon your blog recently and the very first recipe that I tried out (prawns olathiyathu) came out so delicious that I’ve not gone back to any other place to look for recipes since then! I’ve tried a whole lot of fish and prawns recipes from your site and each one of them have turned out great! My mallu hubby loves them and polishes off every bit :-)
