Unnakkai ( Banana Coconut Sweet )

  1. Ripe Banana – 2
  2. Coconut – 1 cup
  3. Sugar – 5-6 desert spoon
  4. Cardamom – 2
  5. Ghee – 3 tablespoon Oil – for frying

Steam the bananas. Let it cool. Mash the steamed bananas & keep it aside. Heat ghee in a pan & add coconut, sugar & cardamom. Stew it for 5-6 minutes. Apply a little oil in the hands & make 10 – 12 rolls with mashed banana's. Flatten each roll & fill it with coconut mix & roll it again. Fry these rolls in heated oil until it becomes light golden brown.

    The picture looks great and all ur posts too. Maria, this dish is made with plantain(nenthrappazham) that is partially ripe. It will be difficult to roll them if it is completely ripe and will be mushy. And in our place,the stuffing is made with eggs, sugar, and ghee fried cashews,raisins and cardamom. never tried with coconut. Would love to try it this way one day.

  3. Its Yummy…i love this snack soo much…always had an impression it was a tuf one n didnt make it..but nw it seems quiet simple..have made my hubby also addicted to this nw!!

  4. hi… what kind of bananas should we use? The Kerala athaka one or the yellow or green ones? Since we dont get the Kerala athaka ones here , I used the ordinary yellow bananas but I was not able to make rolls with it… finally i mixed together the coconut mixture and the bananas and made rolls some how…but it was tasty!
