  • Mutton Olathiyathu

    Mutton Olathiyathu
    1. Mutton – 1kg cubes
      For Marination
    2. Ginger – 1 tablespoon
      Garlic – 1 tablespoon
      Green chilli – 1 teaspoon
      Curry leaves
      Salt – accordingly
      For Masala
    3. Large onion – 2 sliced
      Ginger – 1tablespoon
      Chilli powder – 1 tablespoon
      Coriander powder – 1 1/2 tablespoon
      Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
      Garam masala/Meat masala – 2 teaspoon
    4. Whole Masala
      Clove – 2-3
      Cardamom – 3-4
      Cinnamon – 1 piece
    5. Tomato – 3
      Salt & Oil – accordingly
      Curry leaves

    Marinate the mutton pieces with number 2 ingredients & keep for half an hour. Heat oil in a pan & splutter whole masala.Add sliced onion & saute it. Add ginger & stir. When it turns brown, add Masala powders & stir. Add marinated mutton & curry leaves. Mix well. Add required water & cook for almost 1 hour or until the mutton becomes tender. Add tomato & cook for another 10 – 15 minutes till it becomes dry.

      hi maria,
      thnx for the recipe. well… i didnt come as colorful as urs but not bad for my first attempt (this is my second dish by myself :) ). but it does taste good. by the way, hw much water shud i add? – i added enough to cover the mutton and a bit more. and then waited for it dry up (in lowest flame).

      i am yet to go thru ur rest of the recipes; but do u hv anything simple for a bachelor away from kerala can cook ? that would be a real blessing.
      dont know when i can taste my mom’s.

      Let me start by saying that ur website is just great and the recipe out there are just too good. I can’t believe that I got a website where I can try the recipe out without thinking twice, I just know it’s going to turn out great! 3 cheers to you. The pics you take of the dishes are way too tempting. I have so far tried the Mutton Olathiyathu, Chilli Gobi, Dragon Chicken, Chicken Biryani, Shrimp Crackers , Pasta salad….I don’t remember if there is more to this list…..All these came out so well that I can boast about my cooking now!
