    Prawns Fry

One more prawns recipe. I guess I’ve posted more prawns recipes here than fish recipes . After all who can resist prawns right ?? Some people might say prawns increase your cholesterol, but once in a while its ok to indulge in such simple pleasures of life, isn’t it, what say ;)??

Anyways, didn’t I tell you in my previous post, about the royal pampering back home :)?? Yes, this comes from my Mom in law’s kitchen. We, Jose n myself, just loved it. I was multitasking at lunch time on the  day this was made… stocking up the prawns in my plate,  covering it from eagle eyes (read Jose ;) ) and enjoying each bite of it…

Hope you will also enjoy it as we did :)

    Here is the recipe:

    1. Tiger prawns – 10
    2. Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
    3. Chilly powder – 1 tsp
      Pepper powder – 1tsp
      Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
    4. Oil – 1tsp
    5. Lemon juice – 1 tsp
    6. Curry leaves – chopped
    7. Oil – for frying
      Salt

Combine all the ingredients and make a paste. Marinate the prawns with this paste and keep aside for half an hour. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry it for 5-7 minutes. If you fry it for long, the prawns will become hard.

Notes: You can put the prawns on a skewer/tooth pick and fry, if you wish. Using coconut oil will enhance the flavor.

      Hey Maria,

The prawns look lovely. Will be trying it tomorrow. Just a quick question, do we need to cook the prawns before we do the shallow frying?

      • http://www.mariasmenu.com Maria

        Hi Donna,

        Thanks dear :)

I think my reply is a bit late :( However you dont have to cook the prawns before frying.

        Cheers

      Hi Maria

I was introduced to this site last week by my sis, Alice. I guess this is a big hit with NRIs. I hv already tried 2 cakes and prawn fry and prawn roast . I must say all came out well. I hv been on the look out for a suitable recipe site and at last I got it from you. I found the recipes uncomplicated and well written. Especially the notes – it say a lot abt minute details which are very imp. Usually that is what most recipes miss out.
And Maria, hv u tried out ice creams? It is getting hotter here(B’lore) and I was trying out ice cream for my toddlers.

Thanks a lot Maria. Your passion keeps us happy.

      Cheers

        Hi Thresia,

Thank you so much for such a lovely comment. A special thanks to your sister, Alice for recommending this site :) As you said, majority of my readers are NRIs.

Its really nice to know that you’ve tried recipes from here & liked it too. Thanks for sharing your feedback here.

I havent tried ice creams yet. I’ve posted some pudding recipes before, please check it out.

Hope to see you here often :)

        Cheers

Hi Maria, I have tried prawn fry with similar recipe type, but it was not cooked well after frying. My husband told me to boil/book once before marinate .Then fry it.

      • http://mariasmenu.com Maria Jose

        Hi Kavi,

You can also fry the prawns that way. I guess it depends on the size & type of prawns you use.

        Cheers
        Maria
